After obtaining a degree in Graphic Design from Ball State University and studying abroad in Europe, Sharon serves as the Marketing Director for international multidisciplinary design firm Selbert Perkins Design. Noblesville Creates will host a reception on Friday, July 13 from 6-9pm as part of Fishers’ Arts Crawl. Workshop for 2019 The Polk Street Review
Aug 11, 2-3p.m.
Logan Street Sanctuary
FREE donations welcome
On Second Saturdays from August through December from 2-3pm, we welcome writers, artists, and musicians to workshops for their submissions to the 2019 edition of The Polk Street Review! Saturday August 11th, the workshop will focus on helping participants get started on their submissions by discussing ways the 2019 edition’s theme can be expressed in prose, poetry, art, and song. Genre- and medium-specific ideas and guidelines will be provided.
September 8th: poetry and song lyrics.
October 13th: art and photography ~ we may have a photography walking tour, weather permitting!
November 10th: prose writing (diverse genres).
December 8th: working on submissions, reviewing and finalizing drafts, with an eye towards the submission deadline of Dec 31, 2018.
Our TPSR theme for 2019 is, “If I Only Knew Then What I Know Now . . .” (think: looking back; lessons learned; not everything is black or white, etc). This theme will bring in some great prose, images, song lyrics and poetry submissions. Ribbon Prizes are awarded at our annual book launch in February for our Merit Award (Best in Book), and 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, and (2) Honorable Mentions in our three categories (prose, poetry/song lyrics, images). The complete “all-in-one” guidelines and entry form document can be downloaded from our website. The public is also welcome to join us for our Sunday & Thursdays Writers Group to work on your submissions (it isn’t just for writers ~ artists may bring their art supplies to work on their submission creations).
