29 Jan Call for Entries: Blackhawk Winery Wine Label Art Contest

We are pleased to announce the inaugural Blackhawk Winery Wine Label Art Contest. One selected artist will be featured on the second edition art-themed wine label for the Blackhawk Winery Chambourcin wine. The wine will be available to the public on May 25, 2019 via the winery’s tasting room. Partial wine sale proceeds will benefit the Noblesville Creates.
This year’s theme is “Wiblings” (Wine + Siblings = Wiblings), with two subcategories corresponding with our Little Brother Red and our Sassy Sister wines.
Blackhawk will be seeking two winners:
1) Something capturing the concept of little brothers, for its Little Brother Red wine.
2) Something capturing the concept of sisters, for its Sassy Sister wine.
ELIGIBILITY
The juried competition is open to all artists who reside in Indiana and are at least 21 years or older.
CONTEST ART REQUIREMENTS
- All entries must be electronically submitted before midnight on Tuesday, February 28, 2019.
- Artwork must be ORIGINAL, completed within the last three years.
- Artwork must be unframed size min 20” longest side, max 36” longest side.
- A concept is welcome if accompanied by samples of the artist’s completed work.
- Acceptable media re two-dimensional works of oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel/colored pencil, and ink/charcoal, and mixed media. No computer art, photographs, sculptures, or reproductions.
- Prohibited artwork: Any work executed in class or under the supervision of an instructor; copies of paintings or published photos; and improper subject matter.
- The 2019 wines will be red wines. The background color on the label will be chosen to compliment the art and a green bottle.
- The final reproduced label size will be approximately 2.5 x 2.5 inches, and may be a cropped portion of the original.
ENTRY PROCEDURE: IMAGES
- Artwork must be photographed without mats or frame.
- Each digital file name must be the artist’s full name and entry designation (i.e. Jane Doe- A, Jane Doe- B, Jane Doe-C).
- Images must be high-resolution jpeg files and no larger than 4 MB.
- All entries must be emailed to info@blackhawkwinery.com. Please email each entry separately if sending more than one.
- You will receive an email to confirm receipt of your entry. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 48 hours, please call Deb at 317-771-2814, ext 2.
- All entries must be submitted before midnight on Tuesday, February 28, 2019.
- A committee of Nickel Plate representatives and winery owners will jury entries.
WINNING ARTIST AWARD AND RECOGNITION
- Artist’s name and artwork will have the honor of being featured on this first edition art wine.
- Artist and artwork will be announced via a press release to Central Indiana media and art associations.
- Artist and artwork will be recognized on the Blackhawk Winery & Vineyard and Noblesville Creates websites (we’ll link to your artist website).
- Artist will also:
- Receive public introduction and recognition at the Blackhawk Winery & Vineyard Anniversary Party, May 25, 2019.
- Although Blackhawk Winery will retain the original and a non-revocable license to reproduce the winning piece of art, the Artist will have the ability to sell other works or reproductions of their art at the Blackhawk Winery Anniversary Party.
- Receive public introduction and recognition at the June 2019 Noblesville Creates First Friday, June 7, 2019.
- Although Blackhawk Winery will retain the original and a non-revocable license to reproduce the winning piece of art, the Artist will have the ability to sell other works or reproductions of their art at the Noblesville Creates First Friday.
- Receive a $300 cash award
- Receive one case of the special wine (sorry, we cannot ship; pick-up only).
- Meet area artists and arts patrons.
- Receive public introduction and recognition at the Blackhawk Winery & Vineyard Anniversary Party, May 25, 2019.
- The winning artist is expected to provide the original artwork and a non-revocable license to Blackhawk Winery & Vineyard to photograph and make reproductions of the Artwork for commercial and non-commercial marketing purposes, including, but not limited to, reproductions used in advertising, brochures, media publicity, and informational placards.
