August Featured Partnership Events/Classes

Each month, we gather information about our Featured Partners  and their upcoming events in one spot so that it’s easy for you to see what’s coming up.  That spot is right here!

Fishers Arts Council

Second Friday – Fishers Arts Council Presents: Fishers & Hamilton County: An Historic Perspective. Reception at the Collaboration Hub at Hamilton County Community Foundation on Friday, August 12th from 6-8p. This free reception is open to the public. Meet these talented artists, enjoy their works that feature the history of Fishers and Hamilton County, and partake of light refreshments and a cash wine bar. – Art Gallery at the Collaboration Hub 11810 Technology Dr., Fishers, IN 46038 – Aug. 12th – 6 to 8pm.

Gal’s Guide Library (10 S. 8th Street, Noblesville, IN 46060- Judge Stone House)

LGBTQ+ Ally Meetup – Our intention for this meetup is for the member of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies to have an open space for dialogue, and support. A place that protects, inspires, and empowers the young and all. Let’s work together to create an amazing meetup. – Aug. 6th – 2 to 4pm.

Film Club – Leah Leach is our resident movie geek. With a background of working in movie theaters, video stores, and 18 years behind the camera, she’s got a knack for picking an interesting movie to talk about. And we don’t care about the first rule of Fight Club, the first rule of Film Club is: You talk about Film Club. – Aug. 18 – 7 to 8:30pm.

Training Days – Want to volunteer at a super cool library?! Whether you’re helping put back books for a few hours or staffing the library herself (yes, our library is a she), we should show you the tricks of the trade. – Aug. 19th & 20th – starting at 3pm. 

Book Club – Katie Harris has a knack for picking a great book! A leader (and treasured unicorn) of Gal’s Guide Book Club Katie will handpick a book that fits into our research theme for the month. Selections might be fiction, they might be nonfiction. Because of our wide reach, we’re still looking at using Zoom to meet. We are a no-pressure book club, you don’t have to read the full book to participate. You do however have to sign up. – Aug. 25th – 8 to 9pm.

Kiln Creations (60 North 9th Street, Noblesville, IN 46060)

Nerd Night – starting at $10 – If your nerd is anime, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Batman, Minions or More, this event is for you. We will nerd out with handmade pieces, fun silkscreens, and nerdy chatter all night. Come and paint with us while being with your people. We’ll help you bring your nerdy art dreams to life! Pay for your piece the night of. Pick a piece from the shelves or paint a custom piece that we will handmake ahead of time. We have tons of choices, but if you want something very specific bring a picture and we’ll help you transfer it to pottery. We will be snacking on our favorite treats while we art. When you paint with us your pieces take a quick dip in a hot kiln and are ready for pick up in one week. – Aug. 5th – 6 to 8pm.

Clay Fairy Houses – starting at $10 – These magical fairy houses will delight and excite even the most skeptical curmudgeon. Join us for a two-hour class to learn how to make these perfectly petite additions to your garden or fairy enclosure. – Aug. 12th – 6 to 8pm.

Horror Poetry Night – starting at $35 – We will gather together to honor all things horror: Fictional and True.  Come in to paint King themed pottery like a tower mug, a rose bowl, or a commala rice bowl- or make some true crime pieces like a coffee mug for your Sunday meditative true crime podcast. We welcome artists of all abilities and will have printouts, designs, stamps, stencils and silk screens to help you. But feel free to bring your ideas. Since this is a special event with limited seating, we are requiring advance reservations. – Aug. 13th – 6 to 8pm.

Peacock Pieces Class – starting at $10 – Join us for an all-out Peacock Paradiso! We’ll be painting all things peacock! These pieces are high fire legacy ceramic pieces that will last a lifetime. Choose a bowl, mug, or vase! For $10, you’ll reserve your seat for class to get all the instruction you need to create these great pieces. Pay for what you paint the night of. Bowls will range from $25-45; mugs will range from $25-30; and vases will range from $45-75. Some will be handmade items from our amazing in house wheel artist, Katya!  – Aug. 14th – 5 to 7pm.

Hanging with My Gnomies – starting at $35 – We will be making these cute little gnomes out of wet clay. Customize your gnome with a fur trimmed hat, cute shoes, cut outs and more! They will dry for 14 days, at which time you can come back and paint them!  – Aug. 20th – 6 to 8pm.

Couples’ Wheel Class – starting at $85 – Always wanted to recreate that scene from Ghost?  We’ve got you covered! We’re having a couples’ clay class for a great couples’ price. For $85, you are your partner, friend, or that special someone you’ve always wanted to take a class with can come in a get messy in the clay with us! Our instructor will walk you through throwing on the wheel. Create a small bowl in this beginner’s class. Or not because clay is difficult. Either way, you’ll have fun!  – Aug. 27th – 6 to 8pm.

Hamilton County Artists’ Association

Art Fair on the Square – Free – Enjoy charming historic downtown with juried artists, all painting mediums, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, more. Art experience for kids. Food available. Admission is always free. Donations are always welcome. Brought to you by the Hamilton County Artists Association. – Aug. 6th – 9am to 4pm. 

Tabby Tree Weaver (9832 North by Northeast Blvd., Fishers, IN 46037)

Beginning Weaving I – $250 – This class is geared towards absolute beginners who wish to learn to weave on a 4 or 8 shaft floor loom. Class Time: Thursday, August 18, 10:30 – 4:30pm. Friday, August 19, 10:00am – 4:00pm. Saturday, August 20, 10am – 3pm. The cost of your first project is included in the class. Your second project is at your own cost. Materials will cost approximately $25, but can be more or less depending on what you choose! – Aug. 18th – 10:30am to 4:30pm.

Sew a Tote with your Handwoven Fabric- $95 – In this class, you will construct a lined tote-bag out of a piece of handwoven fabric. You will bring your handwoven fabric along with a coordinating piece of commercial cotton fabric for lining. The instructor will supply twill tape strap material, interfacing and pattern. – Aug. 27th – 10:30am to 2:30pm.

White River Sound

Regular Choir Rehearsal – Visit us at a rehearsal – visitors are welcome at any time. This group of women loves to sing so much that we refused to let a pandemic stop us! We meet each week to sing together to learn new songs and perfect them for performance. – Ivy Tech Lawrence Auditorium 9301 E. 59th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46216 – Aug. 2nd, 16th, 23rd, & 30th- 7 to 9pm.

Purse Bingo – $25 a ticket and $190 for a Table of 6 – Another fun night of Purse Bingo will be here before you know it! Do you have your ticket yet? The Belfry Theatre

“Frozen Jr.” – $15 – The enchanting modern classic from Disney tells the story of true love and acceptance between sisters and princesses, Elsa and Anna, and when faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood.  – The Auditorium at the Annex at Ivy Tech 300 N. 17th St., Noblesville, IN 46060 – July 29th to July 31st, 2pm matinees 7:30pm evening shows.

Noblesville Main Street

Noblesville Main Street hosts First Friday August 5th all over Downtown Noblesville and the Farmers’ Market on Saturdays from 8am to 12pm at Federal Hill Commons 175 Logan St. Noblesville, IN 46060. 

August 5th also features the David Hartman Band from 5 to 7pm and a 21+ only Salsa on the Square from 7 to 11pm. 

The Street Dance on Logan Street is from 6 to 11pm.  

Noblesville Preservation Alliance

The annual Historic Home Tour is coming September 17th.

Improbable Fiction Theatre Company

Rehearsals start for their Indy Bard Fest production of “The Merry Wives of Windsor” by William Shakespeare.
