22 Oct CONGRESSWOMAN SUSAN BROOKS INVITES STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL ART COMPETITION
Congresswoman Susan Brooks writes:
“Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a visual arts competition to recognize and encourage high school artists across the nation and in each congressional district. I am pleased to announce that my office will participate in the 2020 Congressional Art Competition. It is my honor to extend an invitation to high school students from the 5th Congressional District to participate by submitting an entry. I encourage not only accomplished art students to participate, but those budding artists as well.
Although the competition entries are not due until next spring, I wanted to notify you about the contest to allow ample time.
Deadlines, detailed entry guidelines with more information, and the student application form will be available in early 2020 and provided at that time. Please note that all entries must be two dimensional, no larger than 26” x 26” x 4″ thick including the frame, and weigh no more than 15 pounds. In addition, they must be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws.
I am also excited to announce that the entries will be featured in an exclusive show at a local gallery for the month of May 2020, and all participating students will be honored at a private reception. The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year. In past years, the winner was recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. and given two free airline tickets.
I will continue to keep you informed as details become available and will post updates on my website at https://susanwbrooks.house.gov/services/art-competition. If you have any questions, please contact Autumn Meeker in my Anderson office at autumn.meeker@mail.house.gov or by phone at (765) 640-5115.”
Sincerely,
Susan W. Brooks
