The course will include the basic starter set of knives for students to keep with some extra wood to take home. I plan to start the class with the basic principles of cutting and shaping as well as wood selection. The first portion of the class will be to have students transform a square block of wood into their best attempt of a ball. Once the basic cuts and angles are understood we will move into creating comfort birds. The class will be very fluid so that students can adjust to add their own take on the work. We will conclude class with proper sharpening techniques and the importance of stropping.
