SongWriter Series: Local-Live-Original

SongWriter Series: Local-Live-Original

The revival of the SongWriters Series: Local-Live-Original at Noblesville Creates was a huge success and we are excited to announce the rest of the 2024 Series!  Locally started by John Gilmore, these songwriter events are a chance for local musicians to not only play their original songs but also share with the audience the story and inspiration behind the music.

Each SongWriter event will take place from 7 to 8:30 pm, with the doors opening at 6:30pm.  If the weather is nice, we will look to have the event outside to fit more people.  Located at Noblesville Creates on 8th (107 S. 8th St., Noblesville, IN), free ample parking is available after 5pm on Maple Avenue, city street parking, the Purple Lot south of our campus, and for 4 hours at the Levinson Garage.  A suggested donation of $10 to attend goes toward paying the musicians and the staff that run the event.  Alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages will be for sale.

Dates & Musicians:

July 12th: Spenser Johns, Jen Midkiff, and Kris Luckett

Oct. 11th: TBA

July Musicians

Spenser Johns is a 19-year old singer-songwriter from Indianapolis, Indiana. She began writing songs during the eighth grade, where she also taught herself the guitar, drums, piano, and ukulele. In 2021, she released her debut song “burden,” and later released her second song “six minutes in georgia.” She has since broadened her music style, experimenting with pop, rock, country and indie music, taking influence from artists such as Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo.

Jen Midkiff is a singer-songwriter who grew up in Indiana and has made her home in Noblesville for the last eleven years.  She started playing harp during her undergraduate studies as a music education major, and has been arranging music since high school.  Writing her own compositions has been a more recent development over the last two decades, resulting in three solo albums so far.  Drawing on her formal studies as well as her longtime experience playing in bands, Jen’s music seeks to give voice to the everyday struggles and joys we all face at one time or another.  “Relatable” is her favorite compliment, as she seeks to describe things we might have in common but not know about each other yet.

Kris Luckett has been a performer in the Indianapolis area music scene for nearly 35 years, performing in various local bands and also as a solo artist. She has recorded several records with her projects, most notably with her band Diamonds and Rust and with former music partner Greg Ziesemer. Kriss draws deeply from the wells of imagination and personal experience for her songwriting inspiration, using her voice to spin stories that bring heart and soul to life.
