Description: Following a brief overview of US copyright and trademark law we will be discussing the traditional issues IP rights create for artists.  We will also address how technology has created new issues for all types of artists.  Can a computer be an “artist”?  If it can, who owns the art it creates?  What, if anything, is owed to the artists who created the original works the computer used to “learn” how to create an image or a text?
