Baltic Pick-Up Band Weaving with Tabby Tree Weaver
February 19th
10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
9832 North by Northeast Blvd in Fishers
$85 per student
In this class, learn how to expand your design options for woven bands using historic Baltic patterns. We will create a heart motif woven band using a technique called “Baltic pick up with 9 pattern threads”. With this same threading, you can weave a multitude of other designs all by changing which threads are picked up. Create your own unique design or utilize time-honored patterns. Once off the loom, divide the band into bookmarks, use them as shoelaces, wrap a gift with the woven ‘ribbon’…the choice is entirely yours!
Use either an inkle loom or purchase an inexpensive Beka loom from the shop to create this design. The Beka loom sells for $55 and is available to purchase at Tabby Tree. This is the recommended loom which will be demonstrated. Buying or bringing your own band loom is recommended, as you can then complete the band at home. Rental looms are available, please contact the store for details.
Material costs will vary depending on the yarns you choose to use, but will likely be less than $10. You will need about 20 yards of a thin cotton yarn and about 10 yards of a slightly thicker, squishier pattern thread.
