09 Feb New Exhibit: H. Ward Miles at Meyer-Najem
Here at Noblesville Creates, one of our core missions is to engage our local communities with great arts experiences. We especially love working with local organizations to bring outstanding art to unexpected places. To that end, our friends at Meyer-Najem Construction have partnered with us to bring bold, engaging artwork to the second-story gallery space in their building. Just a short walk from the library, restaurants, and shops located downtown, this exhibit space brings a new arts experience to the city of Fishers, one of Noblesville Creates’ communities of focus.
“You Hear Me” by H. Ward Miles
For the months of February through April, Indianapolis artist H. Ward Miles’ vivid, large-format paintings will be on display in the Meyer-Najem gallery space in her show, “Pale, Poured, Political: A Solo Show by H. Ward Miles.” A Noblesville native, she has been teaching art in public high schools, instructing at a collegiate level, and doing graphic design for a local skateboard company for 14 years. Abstract and expressionist in style, her concepts are bold, bright, and anything but boring:
“My work is an attempt to take a world that can be so negative and find the light, bright beauty of our fragile existence.”
“The Great Lakes” by H. Ward Miles
Citing her childhood in Indiana, early career in Bloomington, and living in Kenya amongst her primary influences, H. Ward Miles “hopes to remind viewers of the interconnected elements of life.” Touching on topics like politics, environmentalism, gender, love, parenthood, and travel, she “only wants to make art that reinforces everything that is beautiful and kind.” Besides her participation in both solo shows and a variety of group shows, H. Ward Miles’ work is permanently showcased in the VIP Lounge of the Murat Theatre in downtown Indianapolis.
“Pale, Poured, Political” will be on display from Monday, February 13th through the end of April and will be viewable to the public Monday through Friday from 8am – 5pm. Noblesville Creates will host an opening reception on Friday, February 17th from 6 – 8pm in the Meyer-Najem gallery space. The public is welcome to attend this free event and most works will be for sale. For more information, contact Rachael O’Dell at rodell@noblesvillecreates.org.
