Fourth Annual ‘Welcome to Fairyville’ Event Alights in April
Embrace the fairy whimsy at Noblesville Creates, plus April Fool’s First Friday, two new exhibits featuring local artists, and kids’ class and camp
NOBLESVILLE, IND. —Noblesville Creates is flying high with a packed April of arts-related activities, including the fourth annual four-day Welcome to Fairyville festival of fairies. Unplug and create with Noblesville Creates in hipstoric Downtown Noblesville!
WELCOME TO FAIRYVILLE
The fairies are back and they’re smaller than ever! The 4th Annual Welcome to Fairyville event alights on the Noblesville Creates campus April 20-23, 2016, with most events free. See the most whimsical abodes during the Fairy Home Show, create fancy fairy crafts, attend a Fairy Tea Party and more.
Winged Weekdays, April 20-22, 12-5 p.m.
Sprite Saturday, April 23, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Fairy Home Show, April 20-22: On our campus, see fairy houses built by area residents, organizations and businesses. Vote on your favorite fairy house in our Fairy Home Show contest.
Fairyville Trail, April 22-23: We’re moving the Fairy Home Show houses into their natural habitat. Take a self-guided walking tour from Noblesville Creates, through downtown Noblesville, over the White River pedestrian bridge and along the Forest Park trail — it’s the Fairyville Trail! Keep your eyes open for fairy houses built especially for the Fairy Home Show.
Fancy Fairy Crafts, April 20-23: Children will get creative with whimsical crafts to make and take home. Enjoy fancy fairy crafts ($5 each) during regular business hours (10-5 p.m.).
Fairy Tea Parties, April 20-23: Reserve your spot at a Fairy Tea Party. Reserve your toadstool for April 20-22, 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.; or April 23, 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Cost is $5 for NPArts members/$10 for non-members. Spaces are limited (only 20 “toadstools” per tea party time). Sign up online or call 317-452-3690. (Please note: NPArts members must call to get discount.)
Fairy Friday, April 22, 6-9 p.m.
Noblesville Creates kicks off the winged weekend during Fairy Friday with live entertainment, storytelling fairies and more fairy shenanigans. As the conclusion to the Fairy Home Show contest, the winning fairy houses will be announced.
Storytelling Arts of Indiana presents fairy stories told by local storyteller Stephanie Holman, who will provide engaging fairy-themed stories for adults and children throughout the evening (6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.).

April First Friday, April 1, 6-9 p.m.
Join us on April Fools Day, April 1, 6-9 p.m., to unwind and check out our latest exhibit, Creating Indiana Together. Local band McHalo, purveyors of fine folk-blues-roots-Americana music, will provide the live entertainment. Meet the artists exhibiting at Creating Indiana Together and enjoy a drink from Barley Island Brewing Co. or Mr. G’s Liquors — and maybe even a prank or two! First Friday is free, with purchase proceeds supporting Noblesville Creates’ programs. Registration is not required. Just come on out and enjoy. Exhibit: Creating Indiana Together, April 1-30
Art is fundamental to who we are and who we were, as individuals and as a state. During the Creating Indiana Together exhibit April 1-30, Noblesville Creates is celebrating collaborative efforts among artists and how banding together and leveraging each other’s ingenuity can inspire us to think, see and grow in new ways.
Exhibit visitors can expect to see artworks blending a range of mediums and different art styles from artist pairs, a community tile project and more. During this year of Bicentennial-related art exhibits at Noblesville Creates, Creating Indiana Together will features pieces with an emphasis on how art has shaped and continues to shape Indiana.
The exhibit is open to the public for free April 1-30 during regular business hours (Wednesday-Friday, noon-5 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.).
April Artist Showcase: Art by Two, April 1-30
Mother-son duo Charity Counts and Maxwell Hopkins share the spotlight as our April Showcase Artists. Counts is the associate vice president of exhibits at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, and Hopkins, age 5, is in junior kindergarten at St. Louis de Montfort in Fishers. The pair have been collaborating on art projects for most of Max’s young life.
“I think he’s been making art since he could lift a pencil,” Counts says. “But only in the last year, I would say, has he started to call it ‘art’ or refer to himself as an ‘artist.’ I think he’s simply curious and observant … an essential set of qualities for an artist in my opinion.”
The “Art by Two” show runs April 1-30. See their works in the Stephenson House during regular business hours. Meet the artists at a reception on April 16 from 2-5 p.m.

Adventures In Art Spring Break Camp, March 28-April 1
It’s not too late to register! We want kids to get their hands dirty and keep thinking creatively over spring break. Noblesville Creates presents its inaugural Adventures In Art Spring Break Camp March 28-April 1, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at Noblesville High School.
In conjunction with Noblesville High School, Noblesville Creates invites kids ages 8-12 to explore the arts in a variety of mediums. Price is $195/camper. Registration deadline extended to March 23, 5 p.m. Register online at noblesvillecreates.org.
Adventures in Art: Natural Born Artists class, April 12-May 17
During Natural Born Artists class, kids ages 8-12 will experience their natural landscape and environment in a whole new way. This six-week Tuesday night series presented through a partnership with Noblesville Parks and Recreation takes place April 12-May 17, 5-6:30 p.m., at the Forest Park Lodge in Noblesville.
