Noblesville Visitor’s Center Art Exhibit: Thomas Howie
April 1-30, Fri.-Sun. 12-5 p.m.
Noblesville Visitor’s Center
FREE!
HCAA is sponsoring monthly exhibits of selected member’s work to be on display at the Noblesville Visitors Center. Thomas Howie is the featured artist for April. Tomas started drawing and painting before 10, and has – through both formal education and the school of life – learned how to see. How to look at an image and interpret it through the filter of his abilities. Skills can be honed with time, but they remain skills. Neutral. The ability to perceive the world and put it through the artistic neural blender is something that only comes with time. It is his desire to capture not so much how a subject looks, but its character and personality. The viewer develops the interpretation. Through the years, Tomas has attempted to follow the muse of delight. He has come full circle to the basic premise: an image must speak. It is not the job of the artist to tell the audience what that image says, but to introduce the viewer to the image, so that they can speak to each other. Tomas is currently a full-time artist and musician living in Fishers, IN. His works are on display in galleries and private collections in many states.

The Foreigner
March 24- April 9, Fri. & Sat. at 8 p.m. and Sun. at 2 p.m.
The Belfry Theatre
$12/$15
This high-energy comedy centers around Charlie, a hopelessly shy Englishman, who is on a reluctant holiday in a lodge in rural Georgia. He is desperately afraid of personal interactions so his friend concocts a story, telling the locals that Charlie is from a faraway foreign country and doesn’t speak a word of English. This leads to many complications as Charlie overhears more than he should. The fact that he does boxes him further and further into the playacting of being “the exotic foreigner” – and fuels the nonstop hilarity of the play as he becomes more and more involved in the bizarre goings-on.

Second Saturday Songwriters Showcase with Shawna Caspi, Bryce Ernest Taylor, and Jessie Phelps
April 8, 7 p.m.
Logan Street Sanctuary
$12 suggested donation
Every Second Saturday of the month, we welcome a few singer-songwriters to the LSS stage for a fun in-the-round style concert, sponsored by Butler Toyota.
Shawna Caspi, all the way from Canada! Toronto-based singer-songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist Shawna Caspi performs solo, but there’s a whole band under her fingertips. A mighty singer, a story sculptor, and a truth teller, she has toured across Canada and the eastern USA and believes in poetry and the power of one person and one instrument. Check out her website at shawnacaspi.com
Bryce Ernest Taylor, who brings a fresh eclectic, insightful approach to songwriting and performance. A modern renaissance man, skilled in arts and technology, and a practicing psychologist, his passion for music has grown from seeds planted as a child growing up with the rich, country/folk influences of Texas and Oklahoma. From reflections on the day to day goings on of love and life to more broad urgings for personal growth and social justice, Bryce entertains and reminds us of what it means to live both the joys and the struggles of a life well-lived. Bryce’s Music Website: brycetaylormusic.com
Jessie Phelps ~ Jessie will join Bryce and Shawna as a solo performer this time. Lead singer of Moxxie, Jessie has a unique style all her own, and you won’t want to miss out on this concert! Check out Jessie’s FB page here

Tamara Hansson Concert
April 16, 7 p.m.
Logan Street Sanctuary
$12 suggested donation
Tamara Hansson comes to LSS for the first time! Sydney-born singer/songwriter Tamara Hansson had humble beginnings in her native Australia with a diverse range of music influences. She was inspired by and fascinated by her parent’s record collection; From her mum’s Michael Jackson records as well as her Dad’s sex pistols and Johnny Cash LPs. Reveling in melodies from the era of yesteryear was this child-introvert’s bag. Now, living and writing songs from her apartment in New York, Tamara has been flitting about the New York music scene after the release of her debut EP, The Apartment Sessions. This project started as an idea for touring, playing small intimate shows in people’s apartments rather than busy crowded bars and soon evolved into a process of crafting and recording songs for her first EP in the space of her humble shoebox apartment. The songs she shares are intimate and heartfelt – a true reflection of the environment in which they were created.
