Belinda streams all of her work online, which means she ends up working on several pieces at once. This produces colorful series of pieces that really grab your attention and leave you searching each creation with a more intrigued eye. “When I don’t know what I want to use next, I have wheels I spin—media, elements—it forces me to use things I haven’t used in a long time and figuring out how to make it work. I like to solve problems—creative problem solving—giving myself challenges based on what I have.”

Spending ten years at The Great Frame Up provided Belinda with lots of challenges. The skills she learned during that time have stuck with her. “I learn how to do something and then incorporate it into my art. I make a big piece that has all of that in it.”

Each one of her pieces contains alcohol ink, acrylic paint, paint pen, liquid ink, fountain pens, watercolors, and more. Belinda has learned what mediums work well with each other through her tests and focuses on creating layered works that give a uniqueness to her focus on ciphers, color theory, perception, and physics.

Belinda recognizes she has, “to be aware that with any new project, I’m not going to be super interested in it in a month. But if I can learn from that process and incorporate it into what I’m already doing, then it’s worth it.”

See Belinda’s exhibit, “Try It” at Four Day Ray from July – September. Meet Belinda at her reception on July 20th from 4:30 pm-7:30 pm. .
