Artist Showcase: J. Rodney Reveal’s “Hometown Series Continues… and more again”

Noblesville Creates Studio Artist and beloved local painter J. Rodney Reveal returns this November to continue his popular “Hometown Series” in our Stephenson House gallery space in downtown Noblesville. We caught up with Rodney to learn more about this popular series of works with ties to our local region. Read on:

Tell us more about your ongoing “Hometown Series” and its popularity with Noblesville locals.

The Hometown Series began a while back because of Sid Davis and his desire to see the memories of the places where we grew up here in Hamilton County. The stories of a place or places from my patrons are why I do these “hometown” paintings. I have seen tears and heard laughter from my patrons when viewing their special hometown memories; even where love affairs have started and friendships grew. Of course, the three hottest places in town were the Diana Theater, the Rainbo skating rink and ABC drive- in.

What can patrons expect to see in your show that is new this year?

I have traveled to Maine and the Grand Canyon this year as well as Wyoming this past September for a wildlife workshop so I’m sure there will be some paintings from those places.

Do you have a favorite piece that will be in the show?

As always, I’m working on new paintings all the time, and my favorite piece is always the next one that I’m doing.

Rodney was recently named Noblesville Creates’ “Artist of the Year” for 2017 at our Anniversary Party and Fundraiser. Around the same time, Rodney won Second Place in the “Oils” category at the Susan Kathleen Black Foundation’s “Small Works” Exhibition in Dubois, Wyoming. He also joined the National Oil Painters of America Salon Show this past fall. Be sure to congratulate Rodney on a great year, and plan to see his new works in his Artist Showcase on our campus between November 1st – 30th, including an Open House on Sunday, November 5th from 11am – 2pm with live music, brunch, and mimosas.
