July 2019: “In Love with Nature” by Linda Cordial

July 2019: “In Love with Nature” by Linda Cordial

Linda Cordial is still in the early days of her life as a painter. She started working in acrylics just a few years ago and enjoys dabbling in different styles, colors and canvases — painting on rocks, wood and slate. She has been known to incorporate organic media into her work. She’s learning, evolving and experimenting as an artist.

Last April, Cordial presented her first shared Artist Showcase in the Stephenson House gallery. This year, she’s taking on her very own Noblesville Creates solo exhibition. From  July 5 to 28, Cordial returns to Noblesville Creates with “In Love with Nature,” a celebration of her love for the outdoors, her passion for painting and her favorite pieces.

Though Cordial is in a phase of artistic discovery and growth, one thing remains crystal clear: Nature is forever her muse. Cordial is a hiker, kayaker and keen observer of wildlife. She’s passionate about blue herons and cranes and says she could spend hours bird-watching.

At her home on Morse Lake, Cordial home studio is a converted deck overlooking the water to create her own private artist’s sanctuary. There, she’s surrounded by water and air. She can relax, create and enjoy an endless supply of inspiration in nature.

“All of my work centers around nature: birds, lakes and mountains,” she says.

Shortly after her 2018 Artist Showcase, Cordial took a trip out West that proved to be of critical importance to her journey as an artist. She visited her daughter for Mother’s Day, and they spent a week camping and hiking in the mountains of Big Sur, California. Cordial returned home, fresh with inspiration, and painted her favorite piece to date, “Big Sur.”

Following the July Artist Showcase, Cordial will return to California for her daughter’s wedding. We can’t wait to see what new, creative ideas she brings home with her!

Cordial calls Noblesville Creates “a source of inspiration.”  She enjoys coming to First Fridays, and talking with the “friendly, helpful and encouraging” Studio Artists on our campus. “First Fridays are always fun and interesting,” she says, “Nickel Plate allows me to be a part of a creative community.”

For the month of July, we are excited to display a collection of artwork from emerging local artist Linda Cordial. The exhibit is open to the public during regular business hours, Wednesday – Friday from Noon – 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Art aficionados will enjoy perusing Linda’s art while sampling refreshments, drinks, live music, and more during July’s First Friday celebration on July 5 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. After First Friday, the exhibit will be open to the public during our normal gallery hours
