We’ve decided to post all of our artist opportunities in one spot to make it easier for our network of creatives. Read on for call-outs and more, and be sure to read all the way through – we wouldn’t want you to miss an important deadline! Note: opportunities are listed chronologically according to deadline date, with deadline in bold (when applicable).
Contest: Rain on Main
Local artists (professionals and talented adult amateurs) are invited to participate in the fourth annual Rain on Main event, a painted rain barrel art contest that will include cash prizes in two categories as well as exposure for participating artists and their work. The event is sponsored by the Carmel Utilities, the Department of Storm Water Management and the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District. Thanks to Anthony’s Chophouse, cash prizes of $200, $100, and $50 will be awarded to the first, second, and third place artists in the Art Show and the People’s Choice contest winner and runner-up will receive $100 and $50. Two Audition Opportunities with Tipton Community Theater
Fairy Tale Courtroom: What if the Big Bad Wolf and the Wicked Witch got their day in Court? Who would testify? Would they be found guilty or innocent? Tipton Community Theatre will hold auditions for “Fairy Tale Courtroom” on Sunday, July 29th at 2:00pm and Monday, July 30th at 7:00pm at West Street Christian Church in Tipton. Rehearsals will be on Sundays at 2:00 PM, Tuesdays at 7:00 PM, and Thursdays at 7:00 PM at West Street Christian Church beginning on August 7th. The Music Man: Performers who are interested in auditioning for this well-known production should prepare 16-32 bars of an appropriate song that is not from the show, come dressed comfortably for dance auditions, and bring personal calendars to clear up any potential conflicts with schedules. Auditions will take place on Sunday, August 5th and Monday, August 6th @ 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 200 W Jefferson Street, Tipton. Open to ages 6 and up for this large cast show. Arts Opportunities from the Arts Council of Indianapolis
Nominations Open for “The Arts Indianapolis Awards”: The Arts Indianapolis Awards (or ARTIs) were created by the Arts Council of Indianapolis to recognize outstanding contributions to the Indianapolis arts and cultural community. These awards are a wonderful opportunity to publicly acknowledge and thank deserving individuals and businesses for their support of your organization. Awards will be presented at Start with Art on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the J.W. Marriott. Nominations will be considered for four categories. Arts Council of Indianapolis Seeks Marketing and Communication Manager: The Indy Arts Council is looking to add a new team member to manage a variety of marketing, media, and communications responsibilities. For full job requirements and qualifications, read the full job posting.
Call for Artist-In-Residence at Indianapolis City Market
Spark City Market, a partnership between Indianapolis City Market and Big Car Collaborative’s Spark Placemaking program, seeks an artist-in-residence to develop, facilitate, and engage in place-based programming. The residency will happen over five months in the remainder of 2018 at City Market with a start in August. The artist in-residence will work to bring engaging, interactive art experiences to people at this public place and further the partnership’s focus on social cohesion and community resiliency.

Mural Opportunity in Tipton
Tipton Main Street and Tipton County Public Library seek artists to design and paint a pedestrian crossing connecting the Library to the parking lot across Madison Street in downtown Tipton. They seek artists who can design engaging, inspiring, and family-friendly imagery to embellish the crossing. The crossing will be painted in the fall of 2018 (with a project deadline of September 17th). Tipton Main Street will provide the materials and volunteer support.

Call for Artists: Spectrum, A LGBTQ Exhibit
Garfield Park Arts Center’s “Spectrum” exhibit aims to explore artwork by local artists of all ages from Indy’s LGBTQ community. This showcase intends to promote equality, inclusivity, and respect by highlighting local LGBTQ artists. Artwork showcased will aim to be reflective of individuals’ identities, stories, and experiences to achieve awareness of LGBTQ issues, especially as they relate to our Hoosier environment. Celebrate diversity through the voices of these artists, and unite as one in support of our local LGBTQ community.
Deadline to submit is by end-of-day on August 13th. Artwork for this show will be curated by a selection committee from GPAC and art experts part of the local LGBTQ community. Any artists with work that fits the theme of this exhibition are encouraged to apply. Artists should review full exhibit overview and submission instructions on the Garfield Park Arts Center website.
Forging Sweet Arts: Celebrating Six Years of Noblesville Creates
Artists: we need your help to pull off our Annual Fundraiser! This September, we’ll be celebrating our sixth anniversary with a gala at Mill Top Banquet and Conference Center, and we’re looking for artists to help us with event décor, artwork, gifts, auction items, and more. Artists Wanted: Inner City Artist Collective
Local artists and makers have a new opportunity to sell their work in Indianapolis. The Inner City Artist Collective is currently seeking creatives to help stock this new retail location offering local handmade wares and original art for a monthly fee of $30 (no yearly commitment required). Fishers Arts Council’s Art in City Hall Exhibit Season (Updated 7/18/18)
The Fishers Arts Council is pleased to announce its 2018 Art in City Hall Exhibit Season. Each month, there will be a new exhibit of artwork reflecting a variety of topics relative to the City of Fishers and offered by the residents of Fishers and the surrounding metropolitan area. The exhibits are open to the general public during regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In addition to these hours, a reception is generally held for the participating artists at some point during the exhibit, usually from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. And, most artwork is available for purchase.
