Artist Showcase: Marianne Glick’s “Spirit of Nature”

Artist Showcase: Marianne Glick’s “Spirit of Nature”

Each month, Noblesville Creates presents a showcase of artwork by a local artist or art group inside our Stephenson House Gallery. For the month of October, we are excited to feature the work of local artist Marianne Glick in her solo show, “Spirit of Nature”. An active philanthropist, her personal mission is to ignite, inspire, and direct energy for positive action, and her bold abstracts embody this goal. Noblesville Creates caught up with Marianne this summer in between her exhibits to learn more about her and her artwork.

How do you approach your creative process? Generally, I will think about a color scheme and then turn on music. The music will influence my mood and the mood of the painting.

“Joy in Nature” by Marianne Glick

What are your favorite sources of inspiration? I suppose nature in general is an inspiration. If you look at my body of work, you will see landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, or flowers in about 70% of the paintings.

You use a lot of color in your artwork. Does “color” have a special meaning in your artwork or in your life? Color has so much impact on our mood. I use mainly vibrant colors and prefer to create paintings that I think will help elevate the viewer’s mood or feeling.

Your personal mission is “to ignite, inspire, and direct energy for positive action.” Tell us more about this. This mission fits me perfectly. I can live it out everyday in everything I do. Whether I’m doing work in the community, painting, or even exercising, my energies are focused on positive action for myself, for others, or for both.

Marianne’s work explores rich colors and textures, often including more than one medium. Plan to view this engaging collection of work during its display from October 2nd – 31st in downtown Noblesville. Join Noblesville Creates as they host an Opening Reception for “Spirit of Nature” on Friday, October 13th from 6-9pm with light refreshments, live music, drinks, and more.

“Spirit of Nature” will be open to the public during regular business hours, Wednesday – Friday from noon – 5pm and Saturday from 10am – 5pm.
