May Stephenson Showcase Artist: Anthony Schillaci

May Stephenson Showcase Artist: Anthony Schillaci

From May 7-29, Anthony Schillaci shares his artwork at Noblesville Creates in the Stephenson House, with a collection of portrait and figure studies, landscapes, and other enchanting works. Learn about Anthony, in his own words:

Tony became interested in drawing as a seventh grader with a sister, who never stopped encouraging him to create. In the early 70s as a Vietnam Veteran, he enrolled in undergraduate courses at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and was fortunate enough to have great teachers like Bill Parks, Irving Shapiro, and Douglas Graves.

In the early 80s, Tony returned to art once more by taking evening life classes with instructor Max Randt. Randt quickly became a great friend. Every Sunday, Tony and Max enjoyed traveling around Northern Illinois painting en plein. With a strong interest in Portrait and figure painting Tony enrolled in the Arts Students League under the guidance of Max Ginsberg who Tony labels as a master and was grateful to have him as a teacher.

Today, Tony’s artistic goal for the last several years has been painting/drawing every day without fail, trying to improve, in order to paint “that one masterpiece.”

See Anthony’s exhibit, which includes framed and unframed works that are ready for framing, during our regular business hours, Wednesday-Friday 12pm-5pm and on Saturday from 10am-5pm, through May 29. The Stephenson House exhibit will be open during our monthly First Friday on May 7th from 6pm-9pm.
