PRESENTING: Craig Ogden – Different Eyes

Craig Ogden is a painter that creates from a place of deep emotion. He personifies the term “labor of love.” Ogden started putting brush to canvas again after a decade-long hiatus from art as a means to escape his daily routine. Pushing paints around a canvas again made him fall in love with the craft anew. Ogden prefers his current works to remain “unfinished” by nature – not incomplete in thought or composition, but rather in retaining a degree of raw, unrefined emotion that he hopes challenges viewers from their heart and bones outward; that helps them see the world with “different eyes.”

Ogden balances warm shades with colder, nude palettes in his spontaneous creative process. He piles acrylic paint on and off masonite, canvas, and canvas papers in layers until, as he puts it, “the magic happens!” You can see many of such works during February 2020 on the Noblesville Creates’ campus in the Stephenson House Gallery. Ogden will be debuting his showcase, ‘Different Eyes,’ from Feb 7 through Feb 29. A special reception will take place on First Friday, Feb 7th, from 6pm to 9pm.

Craig graduated from Heron School of Art and Design in Visual Communications and operated a graphic design firm in Broad Ripple for years. That firm connected him to the Indiana Arts Commission and other local arts groups that encouraged Ogden to push his design prowess towards the fine arts end of the graphic design spectrum. He then went into other corporate ventures including owning the Noblesville Antique Mall, retail businesses, and more. He is still an avid collector of antiques, toys, historic artifacts, and Americana and lives in Noblesville with his wife. His three children carry on Ogden’s artistic legacy in their digital arts, gaming, writing, and music careers.
