The Equine Art Guild was formed in 2016 after a group of artists met at the Hoosier Horse Fair and Expo.  Bonding over their love for art and horses, they realized that few venues cater to equine artists, which would more than likely mean that art collectors would have difficulty finding their works. Not satisfied with the situation, the group saw the task at hand and began to organize. “Our purpose is to promote the awareness of equine art and artists,” says Jan Snyder, the Guild’s secretary, “…and to build a fellowship with artist members of all levels.”

The group’s first exhibit of 2017, “Horses through the Artists’ Eye,” will be held this May at Noblesville Creates and will showcase a curation of equine-themed works from a wide variety of artists. Alongside Noblesville Creates’ monthly First Friday artist reception, the Equine Art Guild will be partnering with equine charity Friends of Ferdinand to host a pre-Derby party on Friday, May 5th from 6-9pm

The Guild’s decision to partner with Friends of Ferdinand was easy. “Their purpose is to transition retired racehorses into second career and place them in the right home,” Jan says. “The purpose of this event is to connect with potential equine art collectors and to promote awareness and support of Friends of Ferdinand.” To that end, the May 5th event will include food, drinks, music, activities, miniature horses, and more, all fitting the Derby theme. Plus, the Equine Arts Guild will host a silent auction brimming with a variety of desirable items, all proceeds benefitting the Friends of Ferdinand charity.

Whether you’re a horse lover or not, this event is sure to be a great time. Ladies, grab your favorite big hat. Gentlemen, find your favorite seersucker and stop by the Noblesville Creates campus to join the fun of this free event.
