NOBLESVILLE, IN – Noblesville Creates invites you to participate in a community art project on May 20th & 21st.  The arts organization will be adding artistic embellishments to the crosswalks at 9th and Maple streets in Noblesville from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

The imagery that will be added to the crosswalks has been designed by University High School student Noah Laramore.  Laramore has participated in many events at Noblesville Creates in the past, including ‘Comic Book in a Day’ in 2014, 2015, and 2016.  Now, he wants to give back to the organization and the community by volunteering to create this new piece of public art with the help of his fellow students and volunteers.

“Noah has been an inspiration to us at Noblesville Creates,” says Noblesville Creates Director Aili McGill. “Over the past three years, we’ve watched him grow as an individual and as an artist.  We’ve watched his skill and style take off and we know that he’s going to go on to do incredible things as an adult, so we are so honored to be able to support his interest in giving back to his community through his own artwork.”

To celebrate Noah’s project and his previous work, Noblesville Creates will host a comic book themed block party at 9th and Maple on Sunday afternoon, May 20th, from 12-2 pm.  Refreshments will be available and the latest edition of “Comic Book In a Day”, the compilation of original work created at Nickel Plate’s event last October, will be available for sale. Laramore’s own work is included in the publication, along with comic book artists of all skill levels.  Other comic book artists will be on hand and have other examples of their work for sale – those artists include Stuart Sayger, Jackie Crofts, and Sterling Clark.
These events are weather-dependent.  In the event of rain, the comic book block party will be moved to the Noblesville Creates campus at 107 S. 8th street. Keep an eye on the Noblesville Creates facebook page for the latest updates.
