WRS 35 Year Celebration
September 1, 7-8am
Join us for an in-person rehearsal (socially distanced) and help us celebrate 35 years as a chapter of Sweet Adeline International. We will sing, reminisce and enjoy being together – even if we have to stay 6 feet apart! (face masks required!)

Programming Note: due to COVID-19, we will be recoding our podcasts as usual, but our guests will be with us via telephone for the foreseeable future.
@theroundtable is our Arts-related podcast and short videos series where we discuss the Arts with writers, musicians, and artists of all kinds! All are welcome to sit at our roundtable; our noble knights have no labels, except: Creatives!
We often invite some of our online Arts Showcase exhibitors and our NICE and The Polk Street Review participants to @theroundtable, but we also seek participation from folks we haven’t worked with (yet!). Our monthly recording schedule is First Tuesdays 6:30-7:30pm, and each episode is usually about 15 minutes long. Podcast Episodes air on Fridays at 4pm, starting in January 2020.
Together, with safe distance between us, we will survive!

Hamilton County Artists’ Association Exhibit Continues – All Our Best

Arts Reception & High Frequency Arts Open House
September 10, 4-7pm

Join us as we celebrate the opening of High Frequency Arts’ new studio, fine art storefront, and gallery in the Hub & Spoke Design Center.
The new space and gallery will showcase works available from more than fifty local and national artisans – from paintings to prints, fiber, wood, ceramics, jewelry, glass, unique gifts, and more.
In partnership with Noblesville Creates, we have put together a socially distanced art gallery walk with local artists available to discuss their works as you enjoy music and refreshments in the Design Center.
As part of our mission and commitment to community, 6% of sales proceeds from the event and month of September will be donated to Noblesville Creates and the Fishers Arts Council.
Tickets are not required and the event is free but registering helps us plan attendance and social distancing preparations.

Our 2020 NICE project’s literary selections are:
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë (originally published in 1847)
Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell (originally published in 1936)
Dracula by Bram Stoker (originally published in 1897)
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (originally published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869)
This workshop series will focus on the various examples of Gender Norms & Roles, Sex & Sexuality, and Violence & Domestic Abuse in the four 2020 NICE book selections. Does Jane Eyre’s role in society always adhere to convention? Are Edward Rochester and Rhett Butler just a “bad boys,” or is there more to them than that? Does Scarlett O’Hara’s sexuality help her or hurt her as a survival mechanism? How would you describe Jo March in terms of gender roles and norms? Is Dracula the ultimate abuser? We’ll discuss these questions and more in the three sessions.
All sessions are Virtual Workshops via Zoom video conferencing.
Join in one or all three of our Zoom discussions! We welcome participants who love the books, participants who have only seen the movies and/or TV specials, and participants who have never heard of the books but are in it for a lively discussion. In short – we welcome anyone! These workshops are part of CEArts’ annual NICE project, in which we find new relevance in classic literature and create new original art of all kinds inspired by these works. The workshops will be recorded as part of our 2020 NICE podcast discussions, and as possible episodes of our arts podcast, @theroundtable. You may join as a recorded or silent participant.

Noblesville Preservation Alliance 1st Annual Flea Market
September 19, 9am-4pm

In light of ongoing COVID-19 concerns and future uncertainty of state health guidelines, the Noblesville Preservation Alliance’s (NPA) Annual Historic Home Tour has been cancelled for this year. Without the home tour proceeds, we are unable to provide programming and grants to benefit historic preservation in the community. Additionally, NPA purchased Preservation Hall (formerly known as Logan Street Sanctuary) in early 2020 to serve as the NPA headquarters and host community events. Without our major “money-maker” to put towards our loan, we may lose the building. Can you help?
To help with funding we are hosting a community flea market on Logan and Clinton Streets, including the side streets in between. We want to invite you to participate in this event. This flea market is modeled after the famous Woodruff Place Flea Market in an historic Indianapolis neighborhood that has been ongoing since the 1970s! By partipating, you will be helping an organization that supports the preservation of historic homes in Noblesville. Our work at NPA is so important in preserving our history and keeping our neighborhoods such desirable places to live. Preservation Hall, located at 1207 Logan Street, will be the headquarters for this event.

Please leave the email you wish to be contacted about for further communication regarding pick up and link to zoom class. The Polk Street Review

The 2021 theme prompt is Family Traditions, Old & New.
When we chose the 2021 theme prompt last year, we couldn’t have known how applicable it would become due to all the changes we’ve all faced in the time of COVID-19.
Submission categories: International Connection; Prose; Poetry/Song Lyrics; Images (artwork, any medium), and Recipes (yes, FOOD! Submit images with your recipes if you can!).
The annual theme is an optional prompt. If you’ve haven’t submitted or been published in TPSR since the 2017 edition, then please use the theme prompt.
