Dr. Tom Sale and Dr. Donna Jurdy will be sharing knowledge about eclipses, space history, and the search for alien intelligence. Registration is required.

This program, in partnership with Midwest GeoSciences Group and the City of Carmel, will start with a welcome reception, followed by two talks by Dr. Tom Sale and Dr. Donna Jurdy, and end with a short Q&A. Registration is required.

Eclipses and Celestial Bodies: Shining a Light on History and Science during this Magical Moment of Darkness by Dr. Tom Sale

Mixing history and science about past eclipses is a truly fascinating journey. There are many references about ancient eclipses these stories sometimes lead to folklore that grow into generational legends. Dr. Tom Sale is Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering and Past Director of The Center for Hydrology in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University. 

SETI: The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence - Perspectives of an Earth Scientist by Dr. Donna Jurdy

Over 50+ years of listening and searching for evidence from alien intelligence has not led to a single credible example. Questions remain unanswered and possible explanations abound. Dr. Donna Jurdy is a distinguished lecturer for the Association for Women Geoscientists and professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Northwestern University.
