01 Jun LeVar Burton Reads: Listen and Make
We are expanding our Artists' Series to include the art of the written word. We'll be enjoying LeVar Burton Reads, a podcast presented by LeVar Burton. In this podcast, we hear stories of speculative fiction, historical fiction, and other short stories. The first story we'll visit is "Tideline" by Elizabeth Bear.
A sentient robot searches for her purpose in a post-war world. This story was originally published in Asimov's Science Fiction magazine in March 2007. It is available in THE BEST OF ELIZABETH BEAR.
(Content advisory: Brief violence/combat, mentions of death.)
We will show you how to create amazing clay pendants while we enjoy the story. This workshop is so fun and easy for all ages and abilities.
The price is $30 per person + tax. This price includes 10-12 pendants (as many as you can fit on a 6"x6" square). You will paint the pendants during the workshop and they will be ready for pick up in 1 week.
Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Everyone attending needs a ticket. Parents of artists under 8 should expect to lend a helping hand. Please read the content warning and decide for yourselves if your young artist can handle this particular story.
