02 May The Within, Leigh Petersen Showcase at Noblesville Creates
Leigh Petersen is the Stephenson House showcase artist for the month at May at Noblesville Creates.
"Art has always been a means of escape for me — a way for me to disconnect from my day-to-day stress and worries and delve more deeply into my thoughts and feelings. Thus, everything I draw or paint comes from within. I rarely 'sit down to draw something' intentionally, whether it's in real life or from a photo. I prefer to just let my eyes, hands and mind disconnect and lead me in the 'right' direction. Thus my work is often classified as 'fantasy' or 'surreal' but to me they are just my inner self being made visual. They come from the chaos within."
See the full exhibit "The Within" in the Stephenson House Wednesday-Friday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Meet her at her free Public Reception (also May's First Friday) from 6-9 p.m. in the Stephenson House on Noblesville Creates campus.
