07 Apr Stephenson Showcase: “People In My Life, Places I’ve Been” by Barbara Pool
Audiences are invited to experience the vibrant and deeply personal work of artist Barbara Pool in her solo exhibition, People In My Life, Places I’ve Been this April. A celebration of memory, connection, and place, the exhibit offers a heartfelt glimpse into the moments and relationships that have shaped the artist’s life.
For Barbara, art is an expression of feeling and a way to translate life’s impressions beyond just visual exercise. Each piece reflects her belief that art is both exciting and deeply personal, capturing not only what she sees, but how she experiences the world around her. Her subjects range from serene seascapes and boats drifting across water to sunlit beaches dotted with bathers, as well as intimate portrayals of grandchildren, friends, and beloved floral studies. Together, these works form a visual diary of meaningful places and cherished people.
Barbara’s artistic journey began surrounded by creativity, as both of her parents were artists. However, she did not begin painting until the age of 62. What began as a late-in-life exploration quickly blossomed into a passionate pursuit. Since then, she has honed her skills through workshops with a number of respected artists, developing a style that is both expressive and inviting.
Visitors to the exhibit will find a collection that is rich in warmth and authenticity. Whether depicting the gentle rhythm of water, the fleeting joy of a day at the beach, or the quiet beauty of a bouquet, Barbara’s work encourages viewers to pause and reflect on their own connections to people and place.
People In My Life, Places I’ve Been will be on display in the Stephenson House Gallery from April 3-25, 2026. Stop by and meet Barbara during her public reception on Friday, April 10, from 6:30-8 p.m. This gallery on the Noblesville Creates on 8th campus is open Wednesday through Friday from 12-5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
