6th Annual NICE (Noblesville Interdisciplinary Creativity Expo) Creative Presentations Event
Saturday, December 19 (time TBA)
Due to COVID-19, this year our 6th Annual NICE presentations event will be a little bit different than in years past. We are still working on what it will look like, but it will either be 1) a virtual presentations event via Zoom, or 2) a film presentation of the inspired artistic submissions. Creatives of all kinds are encouraged to create new artwork, writings, and music/songs inspired by the four selected passages and our behind-the-scenes podcast discussions. Our 2020 literary selections are: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë (originally published in 1847), Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell (originally published in 1936), Dracula by Bram Stoker (originally published in 1897), and Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (originally published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869).
You can be inspired by our four selected stand-alone passages or the entire books (your choice!).
Downloadable Guidelines & Creative Submission Form available at https://cearts.org/2020-6th-annual-nice-books-passages-selections. Email your Creative Submission Form and inspired creations to info@cearts.org. Listen to our 2020 behind-the-scenes podcast discussions here: https://cearts.org/home/nice
NICE is an annual literature-based project that includes workshops and a presentations event. NICE offers the opportunity to discuss and be (re)inspired by four classic literary passages selected each year. We look forward to sharing the amazing inspired pieces created by our NICE participants this year!

The Alcove Featured Artist Q4: Paula Wright
Virtual Exhibit available October-December 2020
Free
Paula Wright was born in New York City, a child of Argentinean immigrant parents. She studied architecture and minored in fine art at The Pratt Institute. While she started her career in architecture, she later turned to “…my love of painting. My life led me to Italy, where I further immersed in painting and art history and taught a beginner painting class.”
Her work evolved from painting landscapes into more abstract mixed media pieces that explore the contrast between man-made objects and fluid forms in nature. She says she was “inspired by my son who is studying computer science, and I began to see recycled objects like circuit boards, computer parts, collage, and found objects like gravel sand and sea shells” she combined with paint and resin to form a composition with layers of intertwining materials.
“Mixed media has opened up a whole new world to explore…My work shows how Indiana, like myself, is evolving and becoming modernized, attracting high-tech companies. Our music and arts culture are growing.”
